Curriculum

The Acting Program at AIPA is a two-year conservatory-style course for adults (18+). Integrating principles of realism with various acting methodologies such as movement, voice and physical theatre, the program aims to professionally train actors for careers on stage, in TV, or in film across the Middle East.

The curriculum of the Acting Program is structured within a term-by-term basis, providing participants the opportunity to complete all two years at once, or complete individual terms across a longer period of time. In order to graduate from the program, actors will have completed all six terms sequentially.

Year I

  • The Actor’s Process, Movement & Voice

The Actor’s Process is the foundational course of the Acting Program and focuses on fundamental acting techniques while centering on the concept of self-awareness as the basis.

The Movement & Voice course empowers actors to harness their full potential by thoroughly exploring the body and voice as essential tools for emotional expression and performance.

  • Realism & Scene Study, Movement and Voice Pt 2

In Realism & Scene Study, Actors will continue to explore the foundational principles of acting through an integration of theoretical learning, practical exercises and performance opportunities. Actors will gain a deeper understanding of their craft and develop the skills necessary to create authentic, compelling and dynamic characters.

The Movement & Voice course empowers actors to harness their full potential by thoroughly exploring the body and voice as essential tools for emotional expression and performance.

  • Summer Masterclasses

The Summer Term will run as a series of Masterclass Workshops led by guest artists and industry professionals.

Year II

  • Acting for Film & TV

The Acting for Film & TV course provides actors with the essential skills, technical knowledge and practical experience to transition from stage to screen. Designed for those seeking careers in TV and film, the course emphasizes hands-on camera work, emotional truth and technical literacy. Through practical exercises, scene work, filming & playback, and guided rehearsals - actors will continue to develop their craft by integrating realism-based techniques. By the end of the course, each actor will have an ‘audition reel’ and a clearer understanding of acting for film, the casting & auditioning process, and the production process.

  • Comedy & Improv | The Classics

    Comedy & Improv

Unleash your creativity and sense of humor in our Comedy & Improvisation Course, designed to help actors master spontaneity, comedic timing, and the art of collaboration. Through theater games, scene work, and improvisation-based exercises, actors will explore character development, physical comedy, and the “Yes, And…” principle to build authentic, engaging performances. This dynamic program sharpens instincts, enhances presence, and fosters ensemble connection, while teaching techniques for quick thinking, physicality, and comedic storytelling. From creating vibrant characters to performing in various genres and formats, Actors will gain the tools to think fast, act boldly, and deliver unforgettable, laughter-filled moments on stage.

The Classics – Style, Context & Culture

Step into the world of timeless theater with The Classics – Style, Context & Culture, an intensive masterclass that immerses actors in the works of Shakespeare, Chekhov, Ibsen, Ancient Greek tragedies, and Arab playwrights like Tawfiq al-Hakim and Saadallah Wannous. This course combines historical and cultural exploration with practical training in text analysis, vocal delivery, movement, and emotional authenticity, equipping actors with the tools to bring classical characters to life. Through rigorous workshops, scene work, and a final showcase, actors will master language, technique, and physicality while developing versatility and confidence. Designed to bridge past and present, this course transforms classical texts into powerful, relevant performances for today’s stage.

  • Summer Production

Summer Production offers actors an immersive, professional experience through an 8-week rehearsal process that mirrors real-world theater practice. From the first table read to opening night, actors will engage in every stage of production—script analysis, blocking, scene work, technical integration, full runs, and dress rehearsals—culminating in a fully staged performance.
