Curriculum
The Contemporary Dance Program at the Amman Institute of Performing Arts (AIPA) provides rigorous training in contemporary dance technique, artistic practice, and performance development.
The curriculum is structured across three progressive levels—Foundation, Intermediate, and Advanced—each increasing in technical demand, physical intensity, and artistic responsibility.
Training addresses core areas of contemporary dance practice, including contemporary technique informed by Horton modern dance principles, floor work, improvisation, partnering, choreographic practice, and performance preparation.
The program emphasizes disciplined studio practice, creative exploration, and the development of each dancer’s individual artistic voice.
Students are evaluated continuously through studio practice, faculty assessment, and end-of-semester presentations.
Training Commitment
Consistent attendance, focus, and commitment to the training process are essential to support each dancer’s development.
Students attend two classes per week, each class lasting two hours. Class schedules are assigned according to level. Classes are typically held between Saturday and Wednesday.
The training year is organized across three terms. While each level is typically structured within this cycle, progression is based on individual development and readiness.
As a result, some students may require additional time within a level before advancing.
Students will be grouped by age:
- 8 - 15
- 16+
Placement within levels is determined by age, experience, and faculty evaluation.
